DEF LEPPARD's JOE ELLIOTT: 'We Don't Give A Fuck About Cred'
December 15, 2002DEF LEPPARD frontman Joe Elliott has denied that corporate interference was responsible for the group's latest album, "X", sounding in places more like BBMAK and 'N SYNC than the work of the hard rock outfit that conceived the band's classic 1983 release, "Pyromania". Speaking to Salt Lake City Weekly, Elliott became defensive when the interviewer suggested that parts of the album are almost unrecognizable as DEF LEPPARD, with the Andreas Carlsson-penned (BACKSTREET BOYS, BRITNEY SPEARS) "Unbelievable" coming across like a "hideous, hysterically bad…blatant stab at one last hit."
"Absolutely not true," the singer shot back. "We don't give a fuck about cred. We give a fuck about making a great record. We've certainly never been puppets and we're not going to start now. And how many people other than the small minority of media people that pick up on the negative side of stuff give a shit?"
